Here’s a dream for you. Imagine that the steel gates and huge vault doors of Fort Knox were opened to the world’s worst criminal and he, his family and his cohorts were invited to help themselves to all of our country’s wealth stashed inside with the promise that he would be immune from any criminal charges and could pardon himself, his family and his cronies even if they were caught and he turned out not to be immune. This nightmare is real and it’s happening right now because, without any basis in law or in the Constitution or by statute or by precedent, our highly political Supreme Court created a new rule of “presidential immunity” to go along with failing to limit the president’s pardon power, which comes from the Constitution and thus created this horror setting of allowing and in fact, encouraging, unlimited, unscrupulous presidential thievery.
Let’s set the stage. The founding fathers never thought this abuse could ever occur. Here’s how it happened. You may thank Senator Mitch McConnell of Tennessee for one of the most un-American acts in history. When Justice Antonio Scalia died in February of 2016, the then President Obama nominated Merrick Garland to replace him. Not only would Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell not present the nomination to the Senate, but he refused to even allow a hearing on the nomination. He created a new Mitch McConnell rule to the effect that a president could not nominate anyone to the Supreme Court in the presidents last year of his term of office. This was totally a lie, totally unexpected and had never been heard of before. Thus, President Barak Obama and the Democrats were blocked and lost the ability to appoint a liberal justice as a result of a Republican ruse and outright lie. Just a few months later, in January of 2017, the Republican, President Trump appointed Neil Gorsuch, an extremely conservative right-wing Republican to fill Scalia’s seat. Mitch McConnell made sure that this nomination went through quickly. Then in July 2018 Mr. Trump appointed Brett Kavanaugh to replace Anthony Kennedy. Before his confirmation Mr. Kavanaugh promised to respect and to follow the existing Court rulings particularly as to women’s rights, this included Roe v Wade. Then after he was sworn in, he almost immediately voted to reverse Roe v Wade. Did Justice Kavanaugh misrepresent or lie? The only explanation is that he experienced a miraculous revelation from God and then he changed his mind.
But we’re getting away from our friend, Mitch. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberge died in September 2020 during President Trump’s last year in office. Mr. Trump lost the election in November and was gone by January 20, 2021. Nevertheless, our good Senator Mitch McConnell forgot all about his own rule, in fact he just changed his rule which would have clearly prevented President Trump, at the very end of his last year of his term as president, from appointing Amy Comey Barrett in late September 2020. McConnell even suggested her nomination, rushed it through the Senate and got her appointed to the Court in record speed on October 26, 2020. Justice Barrett is a refined lady, but is another conservative, devoutly religious Republican who along with the other anti-feminists on the Court immediately set out to peel back women’s rights, reverse Roe v Wade without any cause or basis in law or in fact and undo everything that Justice Ginsberg spent her life achieving. Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s spirit has good reason to be livid.
Two out of three Trump Supreme Court appointments were due to Mitch McConnell. By the way, the Dobbs decision which reversed Roe and which did away with a woman’s right to abortion, was leaked to the press, probably to keep the justices who had signed off on the proposed draft from changing their minds. Who would have done that? Amazingly, no lie detector tests were employed by the FBI and the investigation which was pointing towards a Republican Justice was conveniently abandoned. Why? Why? Maybe the Democrats might consider a congressional inquiry.
While we’re at it, you might remember that Mr. Mitch McConnell fought gun safety laws, blocked the enforcement of the Voting Rights Law, and supported the filibuster. He did a great deal to harm this country.
Mitch McConnell helped create a judicial tool to enable presidential corruption, a heavily tilted Supreme Court bloated with some right-wing Republican justices taking millions of dollars in entertainment and gifts, with family members making millions of dollars in” commissions”, using the prestige of being related to a Court member. In addition, one member’s wife received about five hundred thousand dollars from a Republican donor to form a pro-Trump Republican political organization which she alone controlled. Knowing all of this, her Justice husband would not recuse himself but voted for Mr. Trump to have “presidential immunity” like a king.
All other Federal Judges in our government are restricted by a code of ethics which makes it illegal for them to accept a gift or meal with a value of over fifty dollars and a yearly limit of one hundred dollars. Our Supreme Court has decided that they, like the President, are “above the law.” Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas accepted gifts and entertainment and trips from a single right-wing Republican donor totaling over FOUR MILLION DOLLARS. Mitch McConnell was instrumental in creating this Supreme Court which has ignored the rules of ethics for Federal Judges and has authored its own meaningless Code of Ethics which doesn’t have any limit on the amounts the justices may receive in gifts, entertainment , payments for making speeches or any other activity, nor does it provide for investigating claims or for enforcement of its rules or for any penalties and further, allows the justices to sit and decide cases even if they have a conflict of interest. That which is unethical and illegal for all other Federal Judges suddenly becomes ethical, legal and just fine for the Supreme Court Justices to do. In other words, if YOU do it you are a criminal and may go to jail, but if the Supreme Court Justices do the very same thing, it’s quite okay. The Supreme Court’s Code of Ethics is an invitation and an endorsement of corruption and seems to violate the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution which provides that we are all equal before the law. Their code is un-American. It’s crazy! The stench is terrible.
In our last blog we promised to tell you about the Trump administration’s involvement in some highly questionable, if not outright corrupt deals. Remember, our Supreme Court has granted Mr. Trump immunity for any acts except those of a personal nature, and he has the power to pardon anyone for any federal crimes, except only treason. So why shouldn’t he make as much money as he can for himself, his family and his friends? Didn’t Joe Biden pardon his whole family just before he left office?
In January 2025, four days before President Trump’s second inauguration, the United Arab Emirates or UAE, through a subsidiary known as Spy Sheikh, purchased a significant minority interest in the Trump family cryptocurrency firm called World Liberty Financial, apparently owned by Donald Trump, possibly though a front corporation, for five hundred million dollars. We couldn’t find any real assets in the Trump company to justify the investment. The UAE had been trying to obtain sensitive A-I computer chips which had been denied them for national security reasons because the UAE had very close relations with both China and Russia. In fact, we learned that the UAE is in the Chinese Strategic Comprehensive Partnership program and the Chinses Belt and Road Initiative and has the “highest level of ties” with China. Nevertheless, the Trump Administration appears to have made these vital, sensitive chips available to the UAE in October, 2025, less than ten months after the deal was made. China probably is using them against us right now. Wow! What an odor!
We promised to tell you what the Changpeng Zhao (CZ) pardon was all about. In 2023 CZ was running Binance, a digital money exchange, the largest in the world. He was charged and pleaded guilty to violating anti-money laundering laws, enabling drug smugglers, cybercriminals and terrorist groups to move freely. This was no small matter. CZ paid a 4.3-BILLION-dollar settlement through Binance and was sentenced to four months in jail which he served in 2024. There allegedly were business links between the Trump family ‘s World Liberty Finance and Binance. These were large transactions. President Donald Trump pardoned Changpeng Zhao in October 2025, claiming that CZ was “treated unfairly.” That seems to be what he says each time he grants a questionable pardon. Major international money laundering for drug traffickers and terrorists? We are murdering sailors on the high seas who are unconvicted and not even charged with any crime. What is going on here? What a bad smell!
We’re not done. Here’s a freebee. In December, 2025 our president, Donald Trump, pardoned Juan Hernandez, the former president of Honduras who was convicted of smuggling over four hundred TONS of cocaine into the United States. The prosecution proved that Hernandez turned Honduras into a narco-state, taking hundreds of millions of dollars in bribes from “El Chapo” Guzman. Hernandez was about to start serving a prison term of forty-five years, but Mr. Trump pardoned him through a deal evidently negotiated by Mr. Trump’s friends Matt Gaetz, a very, very controversial former congressman and Roger Stone, a convicted criminal. Did they negotiate this deal without compensation? We don’t think so. Did Trump benefit from this pardon? Trump claimed that Hernandez was treated “harshly and unfairly”. We’ve heard those words before. Is this the same Mr. Trump who allowed the execution, some say murder, of seamen in international waters, who were not even charged but were possibly smuggling small amounts of drugs to unknown ports, because Trump said that these seamen posed a threat to America by bringing in drugs? This makes the Hernandez pardon sound unbelievable! What a stink!
The next thing to expect is the rigging of midterm elections by disqualifying ballots, as the Republican Supreme Court did in Bush v Gore or an attempt to buy votes by using public money as just promised by President Trump. In addition, Trump promises gas to drop to $2 a gallon, food prices to go down dramatically, and a complete victory in his war against Iran, all to occur immediately after the mid-term election. Does he think we are all stupid enough to believe his promises? We are all still waiting for our tariff rebate.
